Rugby Public Schools Families,

Our district mailed an Excess Mill Levy Community Survey to all property owners. We're asking all parents and guardians to complete it too — whether you support, oppose, or are undecided.

Quick facts:

• For the past five years, the district has absorbed declining enrollment by not refilling staff vacancies (attrition). This approach alone is no longer sufficient, and further staff reductions will be necessary without additional funding.
• The School Board is asking voters to approve a 10-mill levy increase on October 14, 2026 (55% approval required), at an estimated cost of $45/year for a $100,000 home or $50/year for $100,000 of agricultural/commercial property.
• Without additional funding, the district will need to consider larger class sizes, fewer elective and career-connected course offerings, delayed curriculum updates, reduced student support services, staff reductions, and scaled-back extracurricular programs.
